As people responsible for their own long term personal and professional development and as members of the Sadler Heath wider community we invite you to a virtual (our first for the London community) highly experiential and practical workshop exploring how images can open up developmental conversations, enabling them to be more creative, emotional and focused on felt sense. The workshop will be facilitated by Charlotte Housden and Michelle Lucas and moderated by Jeremy.
Together we’ll practice using photography for development through a number of interactive exercises. Our main tool will be Liminal Muse Conversation cards and we’ll use these to experiment with whether images could work for us in personal reflexivity, coaching or facilitation. ‘Liminal’ refers to the space between things and ‘muse’ to help encourage reflection.
Charlotte has been working as an occupational psychologist and leadership development consultant since the 1990s in consultancies and running leadership development functions for banks. She was faculty on the Nye Bevan programme for the NHS Leadership Academy and works with Point of Care Foundation as a mentor for facilitators running Schwartz Rounds (events that support leaders to display vulnerability and build work cultures that normalise emotions). She is also a photographer.
Charlotte came to realise many of her previous work settings had been thinking, data driven and word-based, which inspired her to look at ways of seeing and explorations in mediation, transitional coaching and family and organisational system work. She spent time investigating whether photography could be integrated into people development to facilitate a focus on feelings, creativity and imagination.
Michelle has a background in applied psychology and has worked in HR for 20 years, as HR Director across a range of organisations. She has been coaching for twelve years, is an Accredited Master Executive Coach and Coaching Supervisor and Lecturer at Oxford Brooke University supervising MA students. She has authored many articles, two books and has just published her third (101 Coaching Supervision Techniques, Approaches, Enquiries and Experiments). She also volunteers for the Association for Coaching and is their Supervision Education Lead.
Michelle and Charlotte met at a coaching constellations workshop in Salisbury in 2018 and were struck by the opportunity to weave photography and imagery into coaching. They have been working together to develop the Liminal Muse Conversation Cards and help coaches and facilitators become use imagery in people development.
There will be no cost for the accommodation this time as a Zoom session does not cost anything, but the use of Charlotte’s and Michelle’s cards will be £20, which allows you to keep the cards for your future use – so we hope you will be prepared to contribute towards that. The cards will be sent to you following your registration for the event.
The event will be run on Zoom from 9am to 10:30am BST on 17th July. We think the optimal number of attendees is 20 so please do sign up as soon as you can if you are interested.
